Again, here are MORE comments from people who have already signed the petition to SAVE KELLOGG BEACH.

AD – The proposed seawall will create erosion of the remining beach and block public access any time other than very low tide. The proposed condo project will block public views.

CM – My husband’s grandparents met at Kellogg’s in the early 1920’s. Four generations in our family have loved this beach! Tradition + Treasure!

SL – It’s not in the public interest of those of us who live and are raising our children to over develop here in Point Loma, loss of a public beach to service and line the pockets of yet another overzealous property developer.
We cannot allow greed determine and lower our quality of life…

HD – Kellogg Beach is a gem in Point Loma – and having a three story condominium complex replace ONE residential unit will change the look and feel of the area. I worry about traffic and parking on the very narrow San Antonio Avenue. I worry about the public access to the beach. And, like others, I worry about how adding a seawall will eventually erode the beach (as has happened recently before at the foot of Kellogg Street).

CL – This beach is a treasure. This proposed condo complex will ruin it and the neighborhood. It will erode the beach, deny access to the public and destroy the view corridor, create parking issues in the neighborhood.

DD – Kellogg Beach was (and is) an alternative to the “touristy” beach scene. Always complete with conversation and culture as well as events of the day. San Diego bay visuals and clean blue ocean out past Point Loma and Coronado.

VS – Took my kids to that beach many times. Great memories and I hope to save it for future generations.

MG – Disgusted that the city would allow the development of this area and to ruin this beloved community beach!!! Stop the overdevelopment of our beautiful little community! This beach has been enjoyed by all for generations…

Here are still MORE comments from people who have already signed the petition to SAVE KELLOGG BEACH.

JC – My mom learned to swim at Kellogg’s – we need to protect it for the future.

JP – Our kids spent summers at Kellogg beach and we and we want it preserved for our grandkids to enjoy.

DA – I grew up in Point Loma since 1960 plus I was fortunate to take my children to Kellogg’s Beach every summer since 1982.
I now use Kellogg’s weekly to access the bay and paddleboard or just swim.
This development will impact access for everyone, locals and those in surrounding area…

RS – This is the wrong place for such a high impact development. All of San Diego will be affected by this. Kellogg Beach is one of the top 10 safe beaches in San Diego county. Developing here would annihilate this public jewel.

SV – This project is too big for the lot and will cause erosion parking problems and loss of public views and loss of public beach access.

MT – I used to live there and enjoyed this place. Why do you need MORE condos when there are plenty that can’t even keep max occupancy? This is a wonderful place and holds great memories for me and new ones for those living there.

JR – This is a special place that must be preserved – for the marine life and the people of San Diego. It’s already been over built to the extent the aesthetics have been compromised – but the beach has remained pretty much the same. It would be a crime to allow any further land development to negatively impact the beach even in the slightest.

DS – This new building confronts the water/tide break, will be a sight menace and disrupt the present walking patterns on the bay.

These are MORE comments from people who have already signed the petition to SAVE KELLOGG BEACH.

TA – My family and I have been enjoying this beach for years. Building a sea-wall and a 30 foot tall building on top of that will not only change the character of the beach for the worse, it will also block the afternoon sun – making the sunny period much shorter for beach-goers.

GT – Spent many years playing on that beach and would hate to see it spoiled by development.

SM – I love this beach. My children grew up playing and swimming at this beach. I want to protect it so my grandchildren can enjoy it as well.

JC – I am opposed to this development as it will adversely affect both the beach, the channel and the aesthetics of our beautiful beach.

ES – It will cause increased erosion to the beach, it will hinder and even block public access to the beach at Lawrence Street.

ADM – I have lived here since 1988 and believe the postage stamp sized Kellogg Beach should be left as is for public access. No more massive condo structures east of San Antonio! I am against Project #483497.

KBC – Encroaching on the beach with construction is counter to the values of citizens of the State of California who have worked to keep the beaches accessible to the public. This construction blatantly infringes on public access to the beach and claims it as private property. The concept is inappropriate for the location…

A multi-family condominium development has been proposed right on Kellogg Beach.

It threatens all who cherish this beautiful public beach and the surrounding area.

If this project goes through…

  • It will cause increased erosion to the beach.
  • It will threaten the delicate environment at this beach.
  • It will hinder and even block public access to the beach at Lawrence Street.
  • It will create increased traffic and parking issues for the area.
  • It will block public view corridors that have existed for decades for the enjoyment of all who live and visit the area.
  • And, it will forever negatively change the look and character of Kellogg Beach.

This is a small public beach, cherished by all who live nearby and by those who visit here. The proposed construction will include a seawall.  Seawalls are well documented to cause erosion and damage to beaches.

The property will be built up and out into the tides, so that much of the day you will not be able to access Kellogg Beach at the Lawrence Street entrance.  This is the only city designated entrance to Kellogg Beach that has steps going down to the beach.

The project involves creating 9 condominium units in a 30’+ high structure, replacing one low-rise home.  These additional homes and residents will create more traffic and congestion at Kellogg Beach and will impact ingress and egress in La Playa.

The building will be a massive structure that will block beautiful public views of the marina and bay.  These are public views from the streets that are enjoyed by hundreds, if not thousands of people who live in La Playa and those who visit this area.

Finally, this development will be the first 30’+  high condominium building to be built on the last remaining section of Kellogg Beach.  There are currently only 3 low-rise homes on the beach.  Replacing one of these with a large condo building will forever change the look and character of Kellogg Beach, and it will set a precedent to do the same on the remaining portions of this beach.

Please sign the petition against the proposed development of Bayfront Condos at 405 San Antonio Avenue, Kellogg Beach, San Diego (City Project #483497).

We are asking the Peninsula Community Planning Board to recommend against this proposed development of condominiums on Kellogg Beach.
